Has the crazy of the holidays slowed down for you yet? If you’re anything like me, your tree is still up and you’re still feeling the pull of the Christmas cookies on your waistband.
And now, as we move to 2013 (which is just crazy! I swear it was just 2001!) the Nursery is looking to the future and thinking about ways to help more families in Champaign County. We were fortunate to get funding for a pilot transportation project from The Orange Krush Foundation to help us provide transportation solutions to families who live outside of the Champaign and Urbana city limits (Crisis Nursery serves ALL of Champaign County, including Rantoul, Tolono and Mahomet). This was a need we identified when we completed a 5-year strategic plan in 2012, and we are working to make sure that Crisis Nursery services are available to help every family who needs it.
What does that mean for the families we serve? It means that a Mom in rural Champaign County has the option to attend a perinatal depression support group to help connect with other moms and get the support she needs to best care for herself and her new baby. In short, it means that Crisis Nursery can be accessible to more families in our community and continue to be an “Island of Safety” to those who need it most.
Thanks to The Orange Krush Foundation and our amazing donors, Crisis Nursery has the ability to be innovative and find solutions to problems so that families can thrive.
As always, if you find yourself in a crisis situation and need emergency childcare, please call us at 217-337-2731. We are always here, 24-hours a day 7 days a week.
