Coach Zook wins the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year award:
Crisis Nursery benefits

Illinois Coach Ron Zook won the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year award not only for leading one of the best turnarounds in college football this season, but also because he demonstrated responsibility, integrity and excellence on and off the field.

The Illini went 9-3 and earned a trip to the Rose Bowl a year after going 2-10! Zook, in his third season with Illinois, took over a program that hadn't had a winning season since 2001. Under his leadership, the players showed an eight-point improvement in the team’s Academic Progress rate as well.

Coach Zook has graciously committed $10,000 from this award to our "Island of Safety".
Each winner received $50,000 from Liberty Mutual to support his civic and charitable activities, $20,000 in scholarship to his school’s alumni association, and will be recognized in the permanent Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year display at the National Football Foundation’s College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Ind.

Kappa Delta Sorority

Special thanks to Kappa Delta Sorority for their incredible efforts during their campus Shamrock Shake which takes place in March to support National Child Abuse Prevention month. This year they donated over $12,600 to Crisis Nursery bringing their 15 year philanthropic support to over $100,000!
