I first heard of the Crisis Nursery when the process of building the facility on Hill St. was just underway. Our company was the successful bidder for the building and at first I only looked at it as a business project. I thought it was an admirable cause, but did not fully comprehend the Nursery’s mission. Over time, I have learned that it is so much more than a building to many people and to me. I am constantly impressed and amazed at the services that Ginny, the staff and the volunteers provide.
After becoming a first time parent, I now understand the need for this “Island of Safety.” Being a parent is a rewarding yet difficult task, and part of being a good parent is knowing when and where to seek help in a time of need. When the situation calls for open arms and unconditional support, the Nursery is always there to offer help and guidance. It is an honor to be a part of this terrific organization as time and time again, I hear stories of why some of the kids are at the Nursery and what their stay means to their parents.
Please join me and other friends of the Nursery in helping create awareness throughout our community. The more people know that there is somewhere to turn, the more we can help keep children out of harm’s way and help parents cope in their time of need.
