Car-X Crazy K
Saturday, September 19
Champaign County Fairgrounds
1302 N. Coler, Urbana
The 5th Annual CarX Crazy K will take place on Saturday, September 19 at The Champaign County Fairgrounds in Urbana. Since 2011, the CarX Crazy K has raised over $214,300 for local charities, including over $28,000 donated to Crisis Nursery.
2011 marked the first year for what was sure to be an annual event: The CarX Crazy K. The CarX Crazy K, a concept from local businessman Parham Parastaran, puts a twist on the traditional 5K run, all for the sake of raising more money for charity in a single day than Champaign County has ever seen before.
Participants will race over, around, under, and through 5 kilometers of varying obstacles and challenges at the Champaign County Fairgrounds. After completing the course, participants are welcome to hang out and join an after party that is sure to make racers forget any troubles they had on the course that day. Live music will be featured and plenty of hot food and cold beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be available all day and night.
Visit the Crazy K website for more information about the event and to register for the race today. Be sure to choose Crisis Nursery as your charity! Prices increase August 15.

Illini Football Concessions Stand
Fall 2015 Home Games
1402 S. 1st, Champaign
Did you know you can support Crisis Nursery while attending Illini football games at Memorial Stadium? For all home football games, Crisis Nursery partners with the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity to staff a concession stand and a portion of all sales benefits the Nursery. Our stand is located on the west side of the stadium, inside Gate 24 on the main concourse – just look for the friendly faces and Crisis Nursery signs. With six home games this season, you’ll have plenty of opportunities! Check out the Illini football schedule here.
Dress Down to Stand Up for Kids
Throughout the year, businesses and schools in the community are dressing down and raising money for Crisis Nursery. For a suggested $5 donation, participants can dress down for the day - jeans day, pajama day, jersey day, funky hat day, etc. - and wear a sticker to show support for Crisis Nursery. Since inception in 2013, this fun, easy program has raised nearly $23,000 for Crisis Nursery. Thank you to everyone in the community for your support! This year's participants include O'Brien Auto Park of Urbana, EP Technology Corporation, Martin Hood Friese & Associates, Downey Group, Cozad Asset Management, U of I Employees Credit Union, Applied Pavement Technology, Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District, Arthur Elementary School, Mahomet-Seymour Elementary, Jefferson Middle School, and Villa Grove Elementary School. Interested in participating? Contact Heather by email or call 217-337-2731 for more information.
Third Party Fundraiser Guidelines
A third-party fundraising event is any activity by a non-affiliated group or individual where Crisis Nursery has no fiduciary responsibility and little or no staff involvement. A third party fundraiser is an outside group or individual that wishes to hold a promotion, event, or sale to benefit Crisis Nursery.
Third party fundraisers are a great way to collect money and goods to donate to the Nursery. We are grateful for dollars raised through events – they helped us raise more than $58,000 in fiscal year 2010! Crisis Nursery encourages third party fundraisers (i.e. golf outings, marathons, sales and donations benefitting the Nursery, etc).
If you have an idea or plan for an event that will benefit Crisis Nursery, contact Special Events Coordinator Heather Wienke to discuss your idea. We ask that all events are approved by Crisis Nursery in advance. This is an important safeguard to preserving the integrity of the Crisis Nursery name and our commitment to raise the necessary funds to fulfill our mission in a cost-effective and efficient manner. Together, we will discuss your plan and provide guidance for success. Please review our Third Party Fundraiser Guidelines and Agreement. This document will need to be signed in order to move forward with your event
Because of the volume of these requests, we cannot personally participate in each event that is proposed but will provide materials for your event about Crisis Nursery and the services we provide. As a reminder - please do not move forward with your plans until you have discussed your idea for a third party fundraiser with Special Events Coordinator. Thank you for your support of Crisis Nursery.
If you are interested in organizing an event that supports Crisis Nursery, please contact Heather Wienke at 217-337-2731 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your interest and support!
