It’s that time of year again, when ghouls and witches walk alongside princesses and pumpkins in a challenge to see who can get the most candy. Halloween is a wonderful time of year and here at Crisis Nursery, it’s yet another wonderful reason to dress up in the famous bear costume!
You cannot even handle this level of cuteness!
Seriously, I’ve never wanted to be mauled by a bear more in my life.
But, being as Crisis Nursery is an “Island of Safety”, we wanted to share with parents some tips on how to keep your little ghosts and princesses safe this Halloween.
|| Swords, knives, and similar costume accessories should be short, soft, and flexible.
|| Avoid trick-or-treating alone. Walk in groups or with a trusted adult.
|| Fasten reflective tape to costumes and bags to help drivers see you.
|| Examine all treats for choking hazards and tampering before eating them. Limit the amount of treats you eat.
|| Hold a flashlight while trick-or-treating to help you see. Always walk and don't run from house to house.
|| Always test make-up in a small area first. Remove it before bedtime to prevent possible irritation.
|| Look both ways before crossing the street. Use established crosswalks wherever possible.
|| Lower your risk for serious eye injury by not wearing decorative contact lenses.
|| Only walk on sidewalks whenever possible, or on the far edge of the road facing traffic to stay safe.
||Wear well-fitting masks, costumes, and shoes to avoid blocked vision, trips, and falls.
|| Eat only factory-wrapped treats. Avoid eating homemade treats made by strangers.
|| Enter homes only if you're with a trusted adult.
|| Never walk near lit candles or luminaries. Be sure to wear flame-resistant costumes.
These tips are taken from the CDC website (http://www.cdc.gov/family/halloween/
) which is a wonderful resource for families during Halloween and all year long!
And if you’d like to trick-or-treat in a fun, family-friendly environment (no scary costumes!) please join us for the Crisis Nursery Halloween Party on October 26 from 4-6 p.m. This event is free and open to families with children who are 6 years of age or under.
How could you not want to come to this event? It’s impossible to say “no” to this little face!
We will have safe trick-or-treating, face painting and other fun, age-appropriate activities. Parents will also have the opportunity to check out the Crisis Nursery facility and ask questions about the free services we offer for children and families.
A beautiful princess gets her face painted at last year’s Halloween Party.
I mean, really, when is the last time you got to hang out with an astronaut and a monkey in a log cabin?
There will be fun books about pumpkins, kitty cats and maybe even a friendly ghost or two!
And if you’re lucky, you might even find a hippopotamus and Super Man playing with trains!
Please join us! You do not want to miss this fun event!
