For families fleeing domestic violence, Crisis Nursery is vital. Or maybe, you need to find an apartment, but you can't until you get a job, which you can't do until you find childcare. With no friends or family here to help with the kids, how will you even look for a job?  Will anyone hire you if you come to the interview with three children in tow? Crisis Nursery is here to help!

On Monday, April 4, over 100 volunteers showed up at the Nursery at lunchtime.  I saw older people, college students, a young mother and her three children, social service workers – all volunteers taking time to show solidarity and support for Crisis Nursery as a kickoff to Child Abuse Prevention Month.

With the Illinois budget crisis it’s easy to lose sight of the mission of an organization. You see budget items being cut and percentage decreases and your head begins to spin. But here at the Nursery, it hits harder than just numbers and percentages.
