We are only half way through fiscal year 2011 and yet the talks of next year's annual budget have already begun.  Budgeting for any not-for-profit agency is a mind-boggling adventure, and here at Crisis Nursery, it is no different.

I can’t believe it's been three months since our administrative staff was packed in the conference room like sardines while our offices were being made over.  My new space is starting to take shape, and I have to say I really enjoy my view.  I now overlook the Safe Children’s Program floor, and am getting the chance to witness more interactions between volunteers and children (which is great!). 

Fridays are always busy days at the Nursery.  On this particular Friday morning, we had a full house before volunteers were available.  I sat out with two Children Specialists for awhile and watched them work their magic, each with children in their arms.  Seeing them work together as a team was like watching a perfectly choreographed dance.  The emotional state on the floor was calm and serene, which isn’t always easy to achieve.  All the while, both were tending to the needs of each child and making sure they felt safe.  It was truly inspiring.
